Experience/Additional qualifications Previous acute care or infusion center experience highly preferred. Strong critical thinking skills. familiar with computer systems and able to adapt with developing technology. Strong IV starting skills. Degree of Supervision Required Involves general guidance and direction by the IVT Manager. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in all ages of patients served. This position requires knowledge of growth and developmental needs of patients and families. Personnel in this position must recognize and respond to the behaviors of patients and families in each age category. The employee must be able to demonstrate the special skills required to care for patients and their families according to standards. POSITION DESCRIPTION The position supports the mission of Bingham Healthcare. The infusion center RN oversees and directs the care of patients across all ages and diagnosis with a diverse range of infusion services. The infusion center RN is responsible for the care of medial and surgical patients of all ages and demographics with varying degrees of services and serves as the primary nurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines to provide well-coordinated patient care. Evaluates, plans, implements and documents nursing care for patients in need of intravenous treatments or cellular therapeutic procedures. Determines and appropriately cannulates venipuncture sites in order to administer intravenous therapy treatments. Assists with obtaining insurance authorizations when needed. Provides information to patients and families regarding intravenous therapy. When the need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
