: Medication Technician Position Summary: PART-TIME-DAY SHIFT Under the general direction of the Executive Director and Wellness Director, primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, administer medications to the residents in a safe, accurate, and timely manner. Qualifications and Required Experience for Medication Technician: Excellent communication skills and a compassion for older adults. Must possess valid driver’s license. Checks MARs immediately after administration and prior to end of shift to ensure documentation is complete and accurate. Conducts change of shift report with oncoming/outgoing shift personnel. Maintains security of medication cart and narcotic keys during entire shift. Conduct narcotic count at the beginning and end of every shift in accordance with company policy and procedure. Provides all necessary care and services to assigned residents and assists other caregivers as needed. Works collaboratively with peers and other team members. Provides assistance with Activities of Daily living such as with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene (includes shaving, oral care, nail care, hair care, foot care), toileting, eating and ambulation/mobility. Maintains professional demeanor at all times when interacting with residents and families. Reports any suspected or witnessed instances of verbal, mental, or physical abuse to licensed staff immediately. Utilizes safe transfer techniques when assisting residents with mobility. Participates in and supports the resident-centered activities program. Care for sensory enhancement devices such as eyeglasses and hearing aids. Completes housekeeping tasks such as bed-making, linen changes, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning bathroom. Washing residents’ laundry as needed. Escorts residents and coordinates internal transportation needs. Assists residents with personal correspondence/telephone usage when requested. Observes and reports changes in residents’ physical condition and cognitive/emotional status to Wellness Director or charge nurse, as needed. Conducts room checks and resident rounds. Monitors for environmental safety hazards. Assists in a variety of tasks related to dining (escort residents to dining room, assist with set up and clean tables, serve meals, bus tables, etc.). Assists residents without swallowing difficulty with eating. Responds to emergencies in a prompt and calm manner. Immediately reports such emergencies to the charge nurse. Attends and participates in staff meetings and mandatory in-services. Documents provision of services on company forms. Uses tactful, diplomatic communication techniques in potentially sensitive or emotionally charged situations. Follows-up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns. Acts as ambassador and public relations representative to guests and other off-campus visitors. Communicates with physicians and third party specialists, such as homecare providers, labs and hospice professionals. Copies special paperwork or forms. Demonstrates an appreciation of the heritage, values, and wisdom of the residents and an understanding of the aging process. Collaborates with associates in other departments to assure necessary care and services are provided. Participates in projects or committees as assigned. Performs related duties as assigned. About this unit 8NE & NW, is a 68-bed unit cardiac step-down unit that provides an intermediate level of care to patients that typically have a cardiac related diagnosis such as coronary artery disease (CAD), congestive heart failure (CHF), myocardial infarction (MI) and heart arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (A-fib) and ventricular tachycardia (V-Tach). We also provide pre and post procedure care to patients that have undergone cardiac procedures, such as catheterization/angioplasty, stents, ablations, and placement of pacemakers, and defibrillators. Our nurses receive specialized training in arterial sheath removal and Tikosyn administration and are ACLS certified. All patients are continuously monitored by telemetry. POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care for psychiatric patients, including child, adolescent and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. This position also assesses mental health needs, develops nursing diagnoses, identifies outcomes, plans and evaluates nursing care. In addition, this position monitors the effects and side effects of medications and treatments ordered by a physician, and ensures the safety and provides milieu management and crisis intervention strategies. Participates in the development, interpretation and implementation of the department’s philosophy, objectives, standards, policies and procedures. Utilizes the nursing process in planning, providing and evaluating each patient’s care, and produces a written nursing assessment and up-to-date individualized care plan. Develops measurable goals on the Individualized Treatment Plan that are mutually set with the treatment team and patient. Modifies nursing component of the Master Treatment Plan as required by changing patient needs, as determined by evaluation of care administered and established standards of care. She/he is responsible for nursing care delivery for admissions to the Hospital on his/her shift. The House Supervisor (RN) needs to have a working knowledge of the Hospital administrative and nursing policies and procedures and community resources to function effectively. The House Supervisor (RN) is responsible for initiating disciplinary action in the Clinical Manager’s absence. House Supervisor (RN) duties include but are not limited to: Uses the nursing process to ensure appropriate delivery of nursing care. Has a working knowledge of the Hospital’s administrative policies and procedures. Has a working knowledge of the nursing services policies and procedures. Adjusts staffing as needed to ensure proper coverage according to designates staff/patient ratios in collaboration with Nurse Unit Manager. Responsible for replacement of staff persons who are scheduled but unable to work. Reports and informs appropriate administrators of any issues that require follow-up. Monitors and evaluates nursing care given, makes rounds throughout hospital.Provides supervision to staff nurses and psychiatric care specialist on his/her designated shift, including disciplinary action. Participates with the Nurse Unit Manager and other nursing managers in the development of therapeutic programs for the unit and particularly for his/her designated shift. Ensures auditing charts for completion, quality and meeting of standard Responsible for ensuring that all admission during shift are handled appropriately, following the admission policies and procedures. Assists/oversees restraints or use of seclusion in an emergency situation. Notifying the patient’s physician for orders as soon as possible within the guidelines of Seclusion and Restraint Policy. Reviews policy and procedures on a regular basis. Directs activities in all emergency situations, including fire, internal and external disasters, and environmental hazards (tornados) according to procedures. Reviews intake information as needed and collaborates with the Intake Referral Coordinator to ensure a timely referral process. Investigates unusual incidents/complaints from patients, personnel and other departments and reports to the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer.
