Your Role on the Team Position Summary Effectively coordinates all aspects of the trauma performance improvement and patient safety processes including systems and peer review processes. The P.I. Coordinator will be responsible for the maintenance of processes related to multidisciplinary trauma peer review and internal trauma systems issues including case reviews, identification of issues (provider and system), tracking and trending of complications/audit filters/issues, and maintenance of appropriate files and data systems. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) has a specialized skill and knowledge related to the setting in which they practice and perform physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services, according to established evidence-based clinical practice standards. The NP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, consulting, and provides leadership to the organization and advance practice profession. Duties may include but not limited to obtaining patient health histories and complete physical examinations, documenting findings noting pertinent normal and abnormal findings, ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests, and performing procedures as needed within specialty area. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides advanced clinical care for patients across the heart transplant and mechanical circulatory support (MCS/VAD) continuum, including pre-transplant evaluation, waitlist management, post-transplant follow-up, and durable VAD therapy. The NP works in collaboration with the multidisciplinary transplant and MCS teams to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive clinical assessments, participating in selection committee activities, supporting cross-coverage across transplant and MCS services, contributing to staff and patient education, and maintaining accurate documentation and data to support regulatory and reporting requirements (CMS, TJC, INTERMACS, UNOS/UNet). The NP participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports operational needs of the program, and may be required to provide on-call coverage as needed. On request from supervisor, reviews new protocols prior to CIC (a review committee) approval, looking specifically at necessity and feasibility of required study tests, at areas pertaining to treatment and dose modification, and drug toxicities. On request will provide feedback regarding time or effort to facilitate budget set up. 2. After study start, ensures that study is conducted as written so that scientific questions are answered. 3. At LAG, will also draw the blood sample, and give to specimen person to process. c. Supervises packing, transporting and shipping of research samples to sponsor in accordance with IATA and sponsor shipping guidelines. 5. Clinical Research Forms (CRFs) When appropriate, ensures that Quality of Life questionnaires are completed. Ensures that data needed by the Data Manager to complete CRFs are obtained and documented.
