Job Description UW Medical Center-Montlake – 8SE Outpatient Infusion and 8SE Gynecology Oncology Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a Nurse Manager . WORK SCHEDULE Full time / 100% FTE Primarily day shifts Monday-Friday Department Description 8SE Outpatient Infusion has 14 infusion chairs and provides care to both UW Medicine and Fred Hutchinson patients. Patients receive antibiotics, chemotherapy, transfusions, or symptom management in any phase of their treatment course. 8SE is a nursing-led unit and is staffed exclusively with chemo-certified RNs. This department is actively involved in innovative clinical research, including research focused on the development and evaluation of new cancer treatments administered within the infusion setting. 8SE Gynecology Oncology is an outpatient clinic offering comprehensive treatment for cancers and pre-invasive disease in the reproductive system, including uterine, cervical, vaginal, endometrial, ovarian and vulvar cancers and gestational trophoblastic disease. Primary Job Responsibilities Directs and oversees day-to-day and strategic department operations Manages an estimated 37 employees, including Registered Nurses, Assistant Nurse Managers, Medical Assistants, Patient Care Coordinators, and Patient Services Specialists Works in partnership with the Associate Director of Infusion, the Assistant Administrator for Ambulatory Care, the Ambulatory Nursing Director, and the 8SE Medical Directors Develops and assesses employee skills, monitors and manages employee performance, and completes timekeeping responsibilities Acts as an expert resource when staff encounter problems or questions Takes corrective action when employee performance is not acceptable Plans and implements programs to meet targeted patient volumes Oversees quality assurance and safety standards Works to continually improve the quality of our services Ensures that the units operate in a cost-effective manner When needed, directly administers infusions to patients Requirements 3+ years of management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State BLS An oncology certification such as an OCN, or a willingness to obtain an oncology certification Oncology or infusion room experience is highly preferred An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements. A Fred Hutch Cancer Center ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management of multiple service lines of adult oncology patients at our community site at Evergreen. The incumbent will also provide psychological support to patients by participating in patient and/or family teaching and refer patients to community agencies and other resources to promote optimal adjustment and functioning. This position requires the ability to lead other clinical staff, be accountable for the work required in this position, the ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment, and the relentless pursuit of excellent patient centered care. This clinic provides a broad range of services including GI, Lung, GU, Breast, and Hematologic Malignancies and Radiation therapy. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 48-bed quaternary care unit and the only Level IV NICU in Washington that receives referrals from four states: Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WAMI). Patients in the NICU are neonates up to 50 weeks post-gestational age. It is unique from a traditional NICU as many of the patients have congenital diagnoses requiring specialized pre-operative surgical and postoperative surgical care. Critically ill neonates with complex medical issues are also cared for in this unit. Specialized care provided includes ECMO/ECLS, cooling, in-room surgical procedures, high frequency oscillatory ventilation, use of inhaled nitric oxide, etc. The NICU charge nurse responds to all Code Blue events in the hospital. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 32-bed quaternary care unit and the only Level IV NICU in Washington that receives referrals from four states: Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WAMI). Patients in the NICU are neonates up to 50 weeks post-gestational age. It is unique from a traditional NICU as many of the patients have congenital diagnoses requiring specialized pre-operative surgical and postoperative surgical care. Critically ill neonates with complex medical issues are also cared for in this unit. Specialized care provided includes ECMO/ECLS, cooling, in-room surgical procedures, high frequency oscillatory ventilation, use of inhaled nitric oxide, etc. As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by the State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Job Description The Division of Cardiology’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) has an outstanding opportunity for a Research & Implementation RN to support our portfolio of clinical trials and clinical research projects. About This Opportunity Reporting to the Clinical Research Manager, the Research & Implementation RN will utilize clinical technical ability, operational knowledge of the University of Washington, a firm understanding of the clinical research process, and an ability to integrate this knowledge with research priorities to implement and support program goals. The CTU supports a diverse portfolio of clinical research studies with a broad reach of diseases and patient populations across early to late phase clinical trials, and both drug and device interventional studies. On-site work across multiple sites in and around Seattle may be required, with occasional telework permitted. Key Responsibilities Clinical Research Procedures & Patient Care - 50% Provide nursing care to research participants, including conducting examinations, monitor and administer treatments and/or medications in accordance with research protocol compliance, and evaluate outcomes of patient participation in research studies. Coordinate and schedule complex research procedures and clinical research activities in accordance with research protocol and institutional requirements. Perform procedures including IV placement, blood draws, vital signs, electrocardiograms, and other clinical and non-clinical assessments as delegated or required by the research protocol. Administer investigational medications, and perform patient assessments during clinic and study visits to determine presence of side effects; notifies Principal Investigators and overseeing physicians of findings/issues. The ARNP/PA-C is a certified physician assistant or advanced registered nurse practitioner who provides evaluation and medical management to Heme/Heme Malignancy patients at Fred Hutch Cancer Center. They follow patients during their chemotherapy and provide medical supportive care, as well as surveillance after completion of treatment. The ARNP/PA-C assesses and manages basic health needs of patients, addresses treatment toxicities, performs procedures, monitors for cancer progression or recurrence, and consults with professional peers as needed. All clinical responsibilities are performed within the scope of practice, institutional privileges and under the supervision of an attending physician. Responsibilities Performs complex and problem-focused H & P’s Evaluates and manages on-treatment and post-treatment side effects, as well as long-term surveillance and survivorship issues. Performs procedures according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice. Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services to ensure safe, effective, and timely treatment as well as continuity of patient care.
