Maintains appropriate documentation of nursing observations, including follow-up documentation in the medical record in accordance with acceptable medical standards of practice. Prepares equipment and assists physician during rounds or special treatments and examinations of residents if needed. Provides direct resident care and transports residents to activities and appointments as time permits. Performs glucometer readings, EKG's and other testing as needed. Assists with direct resident care including bathing, feeding, making beds, toileting and transporting residents to appointments and activities. Actively participates in change of shift report concerning condition of residents and any unusual occurrences. Maintains accountability for counting narcotics at change of shift with another licensed nurse and reports any discrepancies upon first notice. Observes residents and answers call bells in a timely manner to respond to residents' care needs. Reports observations, changes, unusual conditions or reactions to supervisor or appropriate discipline in a timely manner. Takes appropriate action as requested or required by the situation. Notifies family of change in residents condition or hospitalization according to Masonic Village policy. Assist to identify resident needs and strengths. Assists in the development of the plan of care. Participates in resident care conferences as needed. Implements the plan of care and oversees care provided by assigned nursing personnel. What You Need as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) : Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. Current LPN or RN licensure by the PA State Board of Nursing. CPR certification (prior to or upon employment). Previous experience in long-term care preferred. Basic computer knowledge required. Responsibilities Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital (LBHH) is a 126-bed, inpatient psychiatric hospital and start-up joint venture between Lancaster General Health/Penn Medicine and Universal Health Services. In addition to a general adult unit and dedicated adolescent unit, the facility offers services for treating those with co-occurring disorders on the psychiatric-medical unit, an intensive adult unit to care for those with severe conditions, as well as a women’s trauma unit. How will you make a difference at LBHH? Medical Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners (CRNPs) at Lancaster Behavioral Health Hospital deliver quality nursing care to patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral and mental health diagnoses, ensuring their safety and continued care. Medical CRNPs are responsible for completing the following duties and tasks: Maintain a minimum caseload of 12 patients. Obtains comprehensive health history; perform physical examination on new admissions and document/dictate in patient record if applicable. Perform and/or participate in rounds of hospitalized patients, including physical assessments, interpretation of diagnostic studies, interaction with nursing staff and documentation in medical record. Orders (verbal or written) common diagnostic studies, laboratory studies and pharmacologic treatment modalities according to written protocol in collaboration with the physician. The CRNP can only write for those pharmacologics identified on the collaborative agreement. In collaborating with the attending physician, assists in establishing diagnosis, formulation plan of care, evaluation of patient response, and revising plan of care. The nurse will establish goals and priorities of nursing care. The nurse will develop a written plan of nursing care which includes patient education and discharge planning. The staff nurse will be responsible for documentation of care given with patient progress. The RN will work collaboratively with the medical staff in matters of patient care. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION : Our progressive and innovative surgical team fosters an environment that is challenging, dynamic and state-of-the-art. Our operating room suites consist of 34 operating rooms and four procedure rooms. You will have the opportunity to work in a variety of cases. The operating room completes over 20,000 procedures annually. Because we are part of an academic medical center, as well as a Level I Trauma Center, you'll be exposed to a wide variety of patients and experiences. Some of the OR services we provide on a daily basis include general, vascular, neurosurgery, cardiothoracic, orthopaedic, ENT, transplantation, gynecology, urology, plastic and reconstructive, and pediatric surgery. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S): Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate RN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
