Specimen Collection & Lab Responsibilities Collects correct blood/urine specimens using proper technique and equipment. Ensures proper labeling, processing, and transport of specimens to the lab or designated courier services. Technical and Clinical Skills Demonstrates competency in equipment and procedures used in labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. Participates in newborn care immediately following delivery and supports early initiation of breastfeeding or parent bonding. Recognizes and responds appropriately to obstetric and neonatal emergencies. Professional Expectations Demonstrates accountability, integrity, and professionalism in all patient interactions. Promotes a healing, family-centered environment and advocates for patient rights and preferences. Maintains current competency through continuing education, skills training, and participation in quality improvement activities. Qualifications Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience Credentials Essential Current RN license BLS – Basic Life Saving Certification Non-Essential Baby Certification – 15 hours online, 5 hours observation S.T.A.B.L.E certification preferred NRP- Neonatal Resuscitation Program/Certificate Education RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program Other Information Must complete Point of Care Testing training, Neonatal rescusitation program (NRP) and Fetal monitoring as part of Department Orientation.
