Attends and completes mandatory education including infection prevention and control, safety, CPR, equipment usage and procedures according to hospital and department policies. May perform patient phlebotomy in accordance with clinic procedures and physician orders after specialized training. May apply leads and monitors for diagnostic procedures such as EKG and ultrasound scan under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. May assist inpatient and family education by providing educational material and general health information to patients and family members. Job Summary and Qualifications As a n Advanced Patient Care Technician (PCT) you will deliver high quality, patient centered care in a variety of services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the licensed nurse you will administer Central Line/PICC dressing changes, Foley, IV and NG/OG insertion, 12-lead EKG . You will o btain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy. You will d ocument observations, interactions, patient responses to performed activities, and any physical or behavioral changes at time of occurrence. You will obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests and ensure accuracy of all labels and a timely transfer of specimen. You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures. You will perform clerical work as needed, including assembling and maintain ing charts, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relaying messages. You are currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited school of nursing and can perform higher-level procedures once competency is achieved .
