Follow established procedures. • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician. • Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication/treatment. • Ensure adequate medications, supplies, and equipment are available. Report needs to DON. • Ensure narcotic records are accurate for your shift. • Notify DON of all drug and narcotic discrepancies. • Performs all job responsibilities in accordance with safety and infection control policies and procedures, including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated and proper disposal of soiled materials. • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids. • Attend and participate in mandatory, and scheduled training and educational classes to maintain current certification as a Nursing Assistant. • All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that exhibits the Integritus mission, vision, and core values. The position consists of four 10-hour shifts per week, with flexible scheduling options available. Option 1: Rotating Schedule APPs work a combination of day, evening/night, and weekend shifts. Commitment to the departmental weekend rotation is required (typically ~4 shifts per quarter, but subject to change). APPs are also expected to cover one major and one minor holiday annually. Option 2: Weekend Schedule Weekend hours are defined as 7:00 PM Friday through 7:00 AM Monday. APPs who commit to working 24 or more weekend hours per week are eligible for a $25,000 annual shift commitment bonus. APPs interested in maintaining a full 40-hour schedule may supplement their weekend commitment with an additional weekday shift. The School Nurse facilitates positive student responses to normal development, promotes health and safety, intervenes with actual and potential health problems, provides case management services, and actively collaborates with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: 1. Assess and evaluates students' health pertinent family history and home factors, counsel students, parents and school personnel about health problems and issues. 2. Coordinate health resources of school, home, community and allied health agencies/hospitals by making necessary arrangements, maintaining records, notifying and counseling students, parents/guardians and health personnel. 4. Perform mandated screenings in vision, hearing, scoliosis, and height and weight as deemed appropriate by state and city departments of public health 8. Documents pertinent information in student records in accordance with Standards of Practice and safeguards documentation utilizing HIPPA and FERPA regulations 9. Conducts home visits to initiate or follow up on the health care needs of students 10. Prepare regular written reports for supervisor, MDPH and other relevant agencies. 11. Notify appropriate individuals, ie parents, staff, physicians of immediate and potential health related concerns. 12. Participates in school health related activities as deemed appropriate for school nurse by principal/supervisor 13. Provide information about health and disease prevention in cooperation with health education programs within Springfield Public Schools 14. Promotes healthy programs in collaboration with coalitions, associations, CDC and Department of Public Health 15. Acts as a resource in health education to students and families and refers to appropriate help agencies when necessary 16.
