Our nurses get to work collaboratively with physicians and act as the go-between for the physician and the patient. You will get to travel to different hospitals and Red Cross sites. We do the following procedures: plasma exchange, red cell exchange leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, therapeutic phlebotomies, platelet reductions, and white blood cell depletion. WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities): You will perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in multiple settings, including critical care, emergency room, and freestanding outpatient centers. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and access vortex and bard ports. Perform all phases of therapeutic apheresis procedures (plasma exchange, red cell exchange, platelet, and white cell reduction, photopheresis, and hematopoietic progenitor cell collection), to ensure safe and appropriate care of the patient and explain, as needed, the procedures for patients and their family and other attending healthcare professionals. Act as a consultant to external health care personnel about clinical apheresis. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, prior to and during procedures, utilizing the nursing process, laboratory testing results, and other clinically significant procedures. Coordinate closely with physicians and nurses at a variety of hospitals to arrange therapeutic apheresis treatments and facilitate coordinated care. Evaluate patient medication for compatibility and safety of apheresis procedure and determine when to contact the physician. Assemble, restock, QC, and maintain supplies and equipment in a state of readiness to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. The American Red Cross will provide all necessary training. No experience is required. Standard Schedule : Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday- 40 hrs per week - Rotating on calls WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications): Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse and CPR certification is required . Bachelor’s degree OR a combination of education and work experience. Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, OR-related experience. Previous apheresis or dialysis experience is beneficial but not required. Good vein selection and venipuncture skills are essential. Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians. Responsibilities Registered Nurse Inpatient Full Time Time Day Shift 7am-730pm Arrowhead Behavioral Health is a 48-bed psychiatric hospital located in Maumee, Ohio. We serve adult patients 18 years of age and older that need mental health and chemical dependency services. Inpatient offerings include treatment for drug and alcohol withdrawal management and stabilization as well as mental health crisis management. Our outpatient services extend the continuum of care to include partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs which allow patients to develop and utilize proper coping mechanisms to help establish a foundation for life. Additionally, we offer a Relapse Prevention Program along with a Medication Administration Program to support patients in maintaining lifelong sobriety. Clinical Unit Leader – St. Charles Hospital Job Summary: The Lead RN/Charge Nurse is responsible for coordinating patient care on a designated unit. In collaboration with the Clinical Manager, this role uses nursing process and clinical knowledge to coordinate members of the health care team to develop and sustain an environment that promotes excellence in clinical practice and customer satisfaction, while striving for optimal efficiency and productivity of all resources. Essential Functions: Adjusts the schedule and patient assignments to accommodate changes in acuity, patient population, resources & care design. Provides guidance of staff, clinical support, and oversees responsibility for the unit in the absence of the unit leader. Maintains current knowledge of environmental safety standards and infection control; Utilizes appropriate supplies and equipment. Communicates effectively with patients and their families regarding nursing interventions and plan of care. Rounds on patients to evaluate safety, quality, and patient experience. Serves as a resource to staff, patients, and family members to ensure effective communication. Functions as a clinical resource and role model for staff. May serve as a preceptor. Actively involved in interprofessional collaborative practice within the care delivery system to ensure care coordination and continuity of care and optimal patient experience.
