Department Overview Our neonatal program is the largest in the Midwest. We provide the full scope of care for infants needing intensive care. At the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Children’s Minnesota St. Paul Campus, our inter-disciplinary team of over 500 professionals is dedicated to the care of babies born prematurely, those with birth defects, genetic disorders, medical disorders and any baby needing surgery. We care for babies requiring complex care, including hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, and maintenance of systemic perfusion and management of organ failure. We are a part of the Mother Baby Center in St. Paul at United Hospital which includes high-risk delivery services. The Children’s St. Paul NICU is a 62-bed unit providing level 2 and level 3 neonatal care, which allows for continuity of care from admission to discharge. Our team balances a highly technical skill set with a family-centered approach. Job Overview Fairview is looking for an upbeat and energetic Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department at Fairview Ridges Hospital located in Burnsville, MN. The hospital is just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN near the 35E and 35 W conjunctions! It has been providing state-of-the art care and community services to the residents of the scenic Minnesota Valley since 1984. Our ED is a Level 3 Trauma Center. We have 45 beds and a yearly census of approximately 67,000 and growing! Team members include Board Certified Emergency Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers, Registered Nurses, ER Techs, Health Unit Coordinators, transport, and Case Managers. Emergency Department Registered Nurses provide emergency nursing care for a diversified population of all age distributions (infant to geriatrics) and all problem types in a very lively Emergency Room. The Fairview Ridges ER processes 67,000 cases per year, with an average of 184 patients seen daily. The position duties include assessment, care planning, interventions, and instructing. New positions added due to volumes/growth. The patient population served by the Emergency Department consists of newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients requiring or seeking medical care. Twenty percent of our ED volume is pediatric. Schedule: This position is 60 hours per pay period, 12 hour night shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am), with every third weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. Responsibilities Assesses patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes. Maintenance and Repair: Monitors environmental safety and may make minor repairs, change light bulbs, etc.; may perform yard maintenance including keeping walkways safe and snow removal; reports equipment or facilities requiring repairs to supervisor or maintenance personnel as required. Safety: Checks water temperature as required when assisting with bathing; participates in safety drills and protects persons being served in the event of emergency. If an employee is determined to have lost their driving privileges by failing the company MVR driving record requirements per company policy, the employee will be required to sign a Non-Driver form and restricted from driving on behalf of the company until their MVR report satisfies the company requirements for a good driving record.
