The Critical Care (CC) Registered Nurse is a professional care giver who is primarily responsible for planning and providing comprehensive patient care, utilizing accepted nursing standards of practice and by applying the nursing process; care provided will address physical, psychosocial, educational and discharge needs of the patient. The Registered Nurse guides and supervises assigned nursing personnel, collaborates with other health care professionals, coordinates ancillary services and functions within the policies and procedures of the department, the hospital and the legal framework of the State of Tennessee. Education: Graduate of an accredited Associate Degree, Diploma or Baccalaureate Degree Program preferred. Licensure / Certification: Must possess a current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or compact state. Employee must have valid BLS and ACLS when hired. PALS certification must be obtained during the initial orientation period. New Graduate nurses orientation may be extended to accommodate classes which must be completed within 60 days of hire. TNCC is preferred. Experience / Knowledge : Previous critical care experience preferred.

Records and reports changes in resident's eating habits to the supervisor. Initiates and/or leads minimally one Daily Path engagement program provided for residents as described in the resident’s Life Story, Solace program or calendar. Encourages residents to socialize and participate in planned, spontaneous, individual or small group person centered programs and to support friendships between residents. Maintains residents' records daily, in a timely manner, and in accordance with company policy and procedures. This includes documentation related to medication distribution as applicable, engagement interests, incidents and observations, reporting any changes in resident's physical condition and/or behavior, visitors, etc. Observes and reports the health and emotional condition of each resident and promptly reports all changes to the supervisor. Only if permitted by state specific regulations, may assist residents with medication as defined in medication procedure. Follows physician orders and state laws to administer medications to residents who cannot self-administer their medications. Exhibits understanding of and follows medication policies and procedures. Refer to state specific regulations regarding medication assistance. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment for the residents. Performs general housekeeping, following cleaning schedules for resident laundry, bedrooms, dining area, living space, bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Follows proper procedures in emergency situations and responds promptly and positively to resident requests for assistance, including emergency pull cords, telephone calls, and requests from family and friends. Monitors the location of each resident and notifies the supervisor immediately if unable to locate a resident. Encourages teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers. Organization: VICTR Job Summary: Registered Nurse 2 - Clinical Research Center Day Shift – VICTR This is a 40-hour/week RN position on our day shift for 2–12-hour shifts and 2- 8-hour shifts in our Adult Clinical Research Center. We have inpatients and outpatients on our unit and are here to provide expertise in nursing assessment and skills such as IV placement, EKG’s, procedural set up and assistance, and investigational medication administration ranging from simple to complex research tasks. We administer a high volume of investigational IV infusions such as monoclonal antibody therapies for rare diseases and insulin infusions for metabolic studies as well as subcutaneous and oral research medications. Excellent assessment skills and attention to detail are needed for patient observation following investigational medication administration and tasks such as frequent vital signs, EKG’s and lab draws to include centrifuging research blood samples. There is a weekend rotation approximately once every 6 weeks, however our clinic is closed on holidays. We are looking for candidates that have 1-2 years of medical surgical experience and research experience is a plus. ACLS and BLS certification are required, and biotherapy infusion training will be provided as well as specialized research training. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
