About this Job: Job Summary The Nurse Navigator for Urology plays a critical role in guiding patients through diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for urologic conditions. Serving as a patient advocate and clinical resource, this role ensures seamless coordination across urology providers, surgical teams, and support services. The Nurse Navigator conducts patient assessments, provides education, facilitates timely referrals, and helps address barriers to care. By promoting patient engagement, enhancing the care experience, and supporting adherence to treatment plans, the Urology Nurse Navigator contributes to improved outcomes and the overall quality of care for patients at MedStar Health. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate and guide patients through the entire urology care continuum, including diagnosis, treatment, surgical procedures, and follow-up care. Education Bachelor’s degree in nursing required Master’s degree in nursing preferred Experience Minimum of 3–4 years of clinical nursing experience, in urology, surgical services in outpatient care is required. Experience providing patient education, care coordination, or case management in a healthcare setting. Familiarity with managing patients with complex urologic conditions and treatment plans. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, surgeons, nurses, and support staff. Experience using electronic health records (EHR) for documentation, care tracking, and outcome monitoring. Prior experience in patient advocacy, navigation, or specialty care coordination is required. Licensure & Certifications Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice is required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred but not required. Certification in care coordination, case management (CCM, ACM), or specialty nursing (e.g., Urology Nursing Certification) is a plus. Position Title Registered Nurse, Labor and Delivery (Night Shift) Job Description Summary The VHC Health Labor and Delivery Unit consists of 16 private rooms with bathrooms (all bathrooms include a shower which can be quite helpful for long inductions or natural labors). Twelve out of the sixteen labor rooms were renovated in 2021. This unit also has six triage rooms, three ORs and five antepartum rooms. In addition to the recent unit updates, this team utilizes the most current evidence based supplies & products. Nursing leadership has brought in many new products in the last few years. In this unit, you will see women with many different types of pregnancies, singletons, twins & even triplets! VHC Health is Kaiser Permanente’s premier center for their high-risk patient population, including antepartum patients, high-risk vaginal, external cephalic versions (where breech babies are rotated to vertex in hopes of having a vaginal delivery), TOLACs (Trial of Labor after Cesarean birth) and cesarean deliveries. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of one year of experience as a LPN in an acute care setting is required ; two years is preferred. Home care experience is desired. About this Job: General Summary of Position Professional Cardiology care nurse who assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the nursing care of patients from admission through discharge. New to specialty nurses (labor and delivery antepartum antenatal testing) will have 15 months from date of hire to obtain the EFM certification if applicable.
