Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to participate under the administrative, clinical direction and leadership of the Director of the Neonatology Program and in collaborative relationship in the (Mother-Baby Unit), Neonatal Intensive Care Units (FICN and FIN Nurseries), Labor and Delivery areas with the other healthcare providers. Interacts collaboratively with the nurses and other multidisciplinary team members. Duties are to provide primary care for the high-risk newborn infants in these locations in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of the hospital and the New Jersey State Advanced Nurse Practice Act. Participates under the direction of the Director of Neonatology and in a collaborative relationship with Attending Neonatologist, Nurse Manager and Nursing staff in the Intensive Care and Intermediate Care Nurseries and Labor and Delivery Room. Qualifications Certified as Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey with a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing. Currently licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey. At least two (2) years of related nursing experience required. BLS and NRP required. 
Responsibilities The position of Chief Nurse Anesthetist is responsible and accountable to the overall operations and management of the CRNA staff, including hiring, evaluating, and mentoring. Collaborates with the Chair of the Anesthesiology Department in developing, interpreting, and applying department policies, budgets, and long-range plans. Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted, and documented at the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Completes the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit. Performs and documents an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management. In collaboration with the physician, critically analyzes the assessment data/diagnostic tests and determines a diagnosis. In addition, develops a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes. Evaluates patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes. Monitors for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence. Appropriately manages medical and anticoagulation management emergencies according to protocol/policy. Prescribes and/or orders medications. Obtains appropriate consents for surgery and procedures. Ensures completion of all needed pre-operative tests, forms, and documents. Documents assessments, prescribing, plan, modifications to plan, and evaluation of care in the EMR.
