Responsibilities The Patient Throughput Coordinator will work with multiple entities to find and surmount the barriers to discharge of patient. This position acts as the designated liaison who facilitates and coordinates the transfer of patients into and within University Hospital. Works with referring agencies, hospitals, clinics, and the emergency department to ensure safe, timely transition of patients and clinically manages patient movement between units from the PACU, Emergency Department, outpatient clinics, procedural clinics and pre-admits for all service lines. Works with many support services, care areas and administrators to ensure clinically safe patient care, capacity management and efficient patient flow withing the University Hospital, all in accordance with Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) guidelines. Five (5) years of nursing experience in an acute care setting required. BLS and ACLS certifications required. Must have knowledge of patient flow operations. Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY To ensure in collaboration with the Nurse Manager that each neighborhood provide safe, appropriate and goal-directed care and to provide support and direct nursing staff. To be familiar with all policies and procedures. Be able to seek appropriate guidance as needed. Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) position is to provide high quality patient care. The APN utilizes advanced practice nursing expertise to provide care to patients in the Emergency Department. Other responsibilities for the APN include, but are not limited to, participation in staff orientation, consultation and evaluation for patients, families and health care team members. Works collaboratively with Physicians, Nursing Director and Managers to identify patient care and staff development needs and quality improvement opportunities. Qualifications Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Three (3) years of nursing experience in Emergency Department, Critical Care or Medical/Surgical required. One (1) year of experience as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Emergency, Critical Care, Adult or Family preferred. Demonstrates effective leadership competencies to be carried out in the day-to-day activities of the department. BLS (CPR) and ACLS required. Computer literacy required. 
Overview About the Role Participates as an essential member of the healthcare team by providing clinical lactation therapy for patients. Provides education and consultative services related to breastfeeding. Serves as a resource for physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in order to promote optimal patient care. Designs and provides patient and staff education programs. Responsibilities What You’ll Do Initiates and receives referrals from physicians, nursing staff, and patients. Develops, implements, and evaluates an educational plan for patients requiring lactation services. Assesses the educational needs of the breastfeeding mother and family. Identifies an individual plan to meet the breastfeeding mother’s needs. Assures that lactation services are provided in a timely manner. Provides direct patient care lactation service to patients. Performs in-patient consultations at the bedside and out-patient consultations, as necessary. Provides individual teaching and group classes to breastfeeding patients and families. Documents Breastfeeding Education and related Patient Assessment. Records teaching and progress on appropriate documentation. Submits accurate and timely documentation of billable services. Educates, guides, assists, and serves as a resource to nursing staff, other members of the healthcare team and community who provide care to breastfeeding mothers. Develops teaching plans and curriculum for patient education programs on breastfeeding. Assists with educational programs and consultation/support for the nursing staff. Assists in the development and/or review of all literature related to infant feeding that is distributed to patients in the hospital. Confers regularly, when appropriate, with the relevant obstetrician, pediatrician, and nursing staff member on each patient’s special needs and progress in breastfeeding. Qualifications What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s Degree required. Currently Certified as a Lactation Consultant by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. At least one (1) year of work or volunteer related lactation education counseling experience required. Requires skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment, attention to detail and problem resolution. Basic computer knowledge and ability to use audiovisual equipment required. Fluency in additional languages preferred. University Hospital considers multiple factors when determining compensation, including (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s relevant work experience, education and training, key skills, internal equity, market data, and organizational needs. The expected salary range for this position is in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
