Responsibilities The primary purpose of the Operating Room Technician II position is to be under the direct supervision of the professional nurse. The OR Technician II performs various duties to assist with surgical procedures and related operating room activities. The OR Technician II delivers care as reflected in the Association of Surgical Technologists’ Recommended Standards of Practice in a manner that is cost-effective without compromising quality of care. Must work in air-conditioned environment with temperature of 65-73 degrees and humidity of 45-55%. When assigned to pediatric cases, temperature may be up to 85-90 degrees F. Qualifications Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey. Chemotherapy Certification for Oncology Nurses required, however Staff Nurses who do not have certification upon hire, must obtain within a year from the date of transfer or hire. BLS required. Phlebotomy Certification or IV Certification is required. Successful completion of a Progressive Care Course or Progressive Care Certification. Proficiency in the English language is required. Adult Medical/Surgical experience preferred. Ability to employ problem solving techniques and critical thinking. Effective interpersonal skills.
