Job Description Join a highly skilled, dynamic group of APPs in the outpatient clinic in our Hematology, Blood & Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapies department at the Parnassus campus of UCSF Health. Our acclaimed program draws patients from around the world seeking effective and innovative therapies to treat their underlying blood disorders or blood cancers. Our patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, or cellular therapies for the treatment of hematologic malignancies. In this position, the APP would work in the outpatient clinic 4 days a week for 10 hours a shift. They will primarily act as an independent billing provider, seeing follow-up visits and hospital discharges. There may be opportunities to incorporate new patient referrals and survivorship visits into your day. The APP will have the opportunity to learn and perform various procedures, including bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures. Responsibilities Evaluates and manages patients in independent APP encounters, including telehealth. Includes providing care to new, follow-up, acute, routine, and specialty patients. Includes taking histories, performing physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating evidence-based assessments and plans, responding to changes in patient status, and ordering medications/diagnostic tests/treatments/therapies/consultations/referrals/durable medical equipment (DME)/home health services. The Nurse Practitioner will act as an independent member of the team, taking responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient pediatric Hematology, Oncology & BMT patients. You don’t mind getting a little dirty … this could include (but is not limited to) assisting the client with homemaking activities, such as vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, laundry, and cleaning bathrooms in ways that provide satisfaction and extraordinary results . During each work shift, the Homemaker/Companion must spend less than 20% of his or her time on general household work. You establish “partner” relationships with the client by providing companionship during activities such as accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc. You don’t have to be a gourmet chef but you can prepare a good meal, work your way around a kitchen and run to the grocery store, if needed. Must Haves: High school degree and/or a G.E.D. certificate The Homemaker Companion shall have successfully completed a written Competency Evaluation. Homemaker Companion must have a sympathetic attitude toward the care of the sick, and the ability to deal effectively with the demands of the job. Read, write, speak, and understand English with or without reasonable accommodations as needed for the job. Homemaker Companion must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations. Must have a current and valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a vehicle in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations with or without reasonable accommodations.
