Description A nursing student, who has completed the first clinical year, inclusive of medical – surgical nursing, within a baccalaureate nursing program and has a fundamental knowledge of the art and science of nursing, can function in this role. This experience assists the student nurse in expanding previously learned theory and skills through supervised patient care within a work setting. Responsibilities 1. Performs and records patient’s vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respirations, pulse oximetry and pain rating 2. Documents clinical data as assigned, in a computer or manual system 3. Performs clinical procedures, such as specimen collection, venipuncture, EKG, application of sequential compression sleeves, post-mortem care, falls prevention, maintenance of skin integrity and capillary blood glucose monitoring 4. Sets up for selected procedures and assists RNs accordingly. 5. Assists patient with activities of daily living, such as feeding, bathing, and/or toileting. 6. Orients patients to Specialty Service/Unit environment. Assists patient with ambulation and all levels of mobilization 7. Assists with dietary functions, including delivering and collecting patient trays at bedside, passing menus to patients and assisting them with menu completion, mixing nutritional supplements, reporting variation in eating patterns to RN/Dietitian 8. Maintains accurate and timely systems for transmission of patient dietary orders and changes. 9. Assists in pre- and post-operative procedures, such as patient transport, completion of pre-op checklist and reception of patient from PACU/OR. 10. Description The Assistant Nurse Manager is a Registered Professional Nurse with broad knowledge and skills who acts as clinical leader in the daily functioning of the unit and oversight of quality patient care delivery, in conjunction with, or in the absence of, the Clinical Nurse Manager. Description The mission of the Patient Safety and Quality department within the Mount Sinai Institute of Critical Care Medicine (ICCM) is to enhance patient outcomes by ensuring critically-ill patients receive the highest standards of care through continuous improvement and a maintaining a culture of safety. As a PSQ Manager, you will join a collaborative team that works closely with clinical providers, administrative staff, and other stakeholders to develop, implement, promote, and monitor initiatives that improve the delivery of quality care among critically-ill patients across all Mount Sinai Hospital System (MSHS) sites. This position is full-time and scheduled onsite during regular business hours at the Mount Sinai Hospital Campus, located in the Upper East Side of New York City. Responsibilities Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with nursing staff, leadership, medical staff and other administrative staff. Monitor quality performance metrics established by ICCM and Mount Sinai Health System. Help interdisciplinary teams identify areas of opportunity and provide guidance through QI process. Regularly review clinical documentations to ensure adherence to policy and accepted standards of care. Helps reduce healthcare-associated infections (HAI) by providing recommendations for invasive device removal when clinically appropriate. Consult with medical providers regarding National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) guidelines to ensure accuracy and compliance with established healthcare standards. Organizes and facilitates high-level presentations on behalf of ICCM, including designing slidedecks, creating an agendas, maintaining minutes, and providing follow-up on deliverables. Provide education seminars regarding quality improvement Qualifications Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required. Masters in Nursing or health related field is preferred. Certification in specialty area preferred 5 years directly related experience (some supervisory preferred) New York State License with current registration as a registered professional nurse Certification in specialty area preferred Preferred: A minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience in an adult ICU setting within a tertiary healthcare center. Experienced designing, implementing, and measuring the impact of QI projects using rapid-cycle frameworks, such as PDSA. Skilled in evaluating and interpreting complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. Knowledgeable of roles of regulatory and data benchmarking organizations, such as CMS, NHSN, NDNQI, and The Joint Commission. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills and adapts effectively to diverse audiences at all organizational levels. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and EPIC Hyperspace software.
