Medina Hospital’s 2 East unit is a 15-bed nursing unit providing professional care to post-surgical orthopedic and spine patients and is fully equipped to provide care for stable telemetry patients requiring ongoing cardiac monitoring. The unit delivers care to adult and geriatric patients in a manner that accounts for their age and developmental needs, with age-specific competencies required and completed annually. In addition to patients undergoing total joint replacement, the unit manages care for individuals requiring revisions, as well as lumbar and/or cervical decompressions, fusions, and laminectomies. As an Assistant Nurse Manager on this unit, you will assist fellow RNs, physicians and medical staff in providing the best possible healthcare experience. Your work will mainly focus on evaluating patient condition, improving unit policies, managing caregiver schedules and welcoming new nurses to the team. A caregiver in this role works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Support the Nurse Manager with supervising and supporting RNs and other nursing support caregivers. Supervise admissions, conduct assessment of patient's needs and initiate nursing care plans. Evaluate and document patient progress. Facilitate the planning, implementation, development, and evaluation of nursing programs, initiatives and objectives for the unit. Serve as a liaison between the manager, caregivers and other areas within the organization. Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services in a unit. Assist in orienting new caregivers. Participate in continuing education and in-service educational programs.
