Job Title: X-Ray Technician/MA Reports to: Center Manager Summary The X-Ray Technician/MA will be responsible for assisting in examination and treatment of patients under direction of the Physician. Major Responsibilities Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment. Hands instruments and materials to doctor as directed. Cleans and sterilizes instruments. Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials. Operates x-ray, electrocardiograph (EKG), and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests. Gives injections or treatments, and performs routine laboratory tests. Keys data into computer to maintain office and patient records. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications Current limited X-Ray permit issued by the California Department of Public Health (expanded scope is ideal- to include digital radiography, chest, extremities, and torso-skeletal) is required CPT I certification Experience performing EKGs, blood draws, vital signs and IM injections. Ability to work well under pressure and be quick on your feet Neat and professional appearance Effective written and verbal communication skills Vocational certificate in Medical Assistant Working Conditions Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs. Under supportive supervision, the Case Management Nurse II position supports the physician and interdisciplinary team in the provision of patient care, with the underlying objective of enhancing the quality of clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction while managing the cost of care and providing timely and accurate information to payers. The role integrates and coordinates utilization management, transitions of care, and discharge planning functions. The Level II RN Case Manager is accountable for a designated patient caseload and plans effectively in order to ensure patients receive the right care in the most appropriate setting, manage the length of stay, and promote efficient utilization of resources. Utilizes resources in an economical manner Department Specific Competencies Assesses, analyzes, synthesizes data gathered and develops an initial discharge plan. Collaborates/communicates with the multidisciplinary care team throughout the continuum of care. Ensures appropriate utilization management by analyzing and synthesizing clinical documentation, and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patients are receiving the right care, in the right place at the most appropriate level of care. Establishes the patient/family/case manager relationship and determines their readiness to engage in the discharge planning process. Maintains a working relationship with ancillary departments, external case managers and post-acute care providers. Screens / identifies patients that may benefit from professional case management services. Uses critical thinking to formulate and carry out a discharge plan according to the patient’s needs. Utilizes the Electronic Health Record to ensure timely, accurate and complete documentation of assessments, referrals, and variances in care.
