Compass Oncology, the Pacific Northwest’s largest private Cancer Care Clinic group, is looking for an exceptional Registered Nurses (RN) to support our Infusion Oncology care team at our various OR clinics (Clackamas, Tigard, and Rose Quarter location). Oncology experience is a plus, and previous Infusion Oncology experience highly preferred. This individual must also possess strong multi-tasking abilities, and bring positivity and passion to their work. JOB SCOPE: Under general supervision, provides professional nursing care for oncology patients following established standards and practices. Demonstrates knowledge of age specific differences in the patient population including late adolescence, adulthood, middle age, and the elderly. This includes physiological, psychological, and developmental differences unique to each group. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities Assists physician with exams and procedures. Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms. Assesses patients for changes in condition, including but not limited to abnormal labs, x-rays, scans, drug reactions and initiates appropriate action. Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management. Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices. Administers all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart. Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician. Assures nursing charges are accurate and complete on patient fee slips. Acts as a resource person to the medical assistants. Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patients chart. Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material. Demonstrates awareness of community resources available to patients and assists with referrals if necessary. Manages patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and records the information in the patient chart. Provides nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed. Follows OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste and any other material potentially infected with a blood borne pathogen. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Participates in cross-training programs to develop skills across multiple areas of the practice and provide support where needed. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. Dual licensure in Oregon (OR) and Washington (WA) must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date. Chemotherapy Immunotherapy provider card, preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. **Must maintain continuing education requirements. Experience/Training: Minimum (1-3 years) of nursing experience including at least (1) year in oncology preferred. In this role you will be responsible for the safe administration of all prescribed medications and treatments as listed on the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and Treatment Administration Record (TAR), provides personal are and general nursing care to residents as needed or assigned, ensures delivery of care and services to all residents in the community to include Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), room cleanliness, scheduled activities and dining services and individual service plan need of each assigned resident.Job DescriptionResponsible for supervision of self-administered medication for the Assisted Living Department in compliance with Federal & State regulations and Senior Lifestyle Corporation guidelines as directed by the LPN/LVN/RN and/or the Assisted Living Director/Health and Wellness Director.Count and sign on approved form, all narcotics with approved personnel before accepting medication keys. Contact a supervisor immediately with discrepancies.Order all necessary medication and treatments from appropriate pharmacy or notify responsible party when supply is no less than 7 days.Notify supervisor when supply is less than 2 days and medicine hasn’t been received.Responsible for receiving and verifying all medicine received is accurate according to pharmacy label and MAR. Notifies pharmacy and DH&W of any discrepancies.Responsible for proper storage of all medications and ensuring all lotions, ointments and liquids stored separately from oral medications.Responsible for dating all appropriate vials or bottles at time of initial opening and following pharmacy protocol on length of time they can be used.Responsible for weekly inspections of all medications to ensure all expired medications are removed.Responsible for verifying all current MARs are compared to new MARs at change over time and notifying the supervisor of any discrepancies.Responsible for removing all discontinued medication from med cart and giving it to the supervisor.Provide personal care to residents to include, but not limited to, bathing, skin care, oral hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence care, and eating, etc.Provide general nursing care to include, but not limited to, vital signs, temperatures, blood pressure, and weights.Document appropriate information in the daily log as required and notify supervisor of all concerns.Answer calls and assist residents with needs as assigned.Responsible for daily cleaning of all medicine carts at end of shift and restocking as needed.
