Responsibilities include conducting various cardiac tests to monitor patients' heart and blood vessel conditions using diverse cardiology equipment, preparing procedure rooms, prepping patients for procedures, obtaining, and recording patient information, assisting physicians in procedure by circulating procedures, X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency, performing blood work analyses, and operating intra-cardiac ultrasound. Directs and practices safety guidelines for themselves, staff, and patients. Independently functions during diagnostic and interventions procedures. Maintains a high level of expertise in specialty procedures within their assigned lab. Within the Cath Lab, this may include structural heart procedures and hemodynamics; within Electrophysiology (EP) Lab, RN’s perform device and electrophysiology procedures (EP), and operate 3D mapping systems. Receives and reviews charts for scheduled patients as soon as they are available for the next day. Demonstrates the ability to accurately document all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular and EP Lab in the MacLab/ CardioLab system. Demonstrates the ability to independently circulate all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular and EP Lab. Accurately records/documents procedure log in MacLab/CardioLab documentation system in real time. Maintains an ongoing safe, therapeutic environment for all patients and families in accordance with hospital standards including sensitivity to patient comfort and privacy. Actively participates in the preceptorship of new staff members. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education, workshops, in-services, and current literature. Responsibilities: Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting. Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs. Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record. Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans. Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration. Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate. Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions. Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care. Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
