The University of Miami is currently seeking a full time Registered Nurse 2 to work full time at UHealth Sole Mia. The Registered Nurse 2 delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence-based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population-specific patient care. The Registered Nurse 2 oversees nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS 1. Assesses assigned patients and evaluates plans to include documentation of nursing care. Reports symptoms and changes in patients’ condition and vital signs. Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses, conditions and physician orders. 2. Reviews, evaluates and reports diagnostic tests to assess patient’s condition. 3. Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals related to assigned patients to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. 4. Prepares patients for, and assists with examinations, procedures and treatments. Considers patient age and culture during patient treatments and provides any needed information regarding treatment plan. Nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support. 5. Performs appropriate patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice. Administers and maintains accurate records related to medications and treatments as per regulatory bodies, policies, procedures and physician orders. 6. Communicates plan of care in a timely manner to patient and family, as well as the appropriate team members, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines (i.e. HIPAA). Uses best practices for transition of patient care. 7. Uses available resources to assist in discharge planning. 8. Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to accomplish goals and render superior patient care; seeks assistance when needed. 9. Adapts to changing work demands and environment. Safely operates medical equipment. 10. Serves as a preceptor and assists new staff in the provision of care in order to help them acclimate to the healthcare environment, and a direct patient care role. Provides concise and constructive feedback when needed. 11. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. CORE QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor of Science in nursing Certification and Licensing: Registered Nurse License; Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Knowledge of medical terminology Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (i.e. sanitation, decontamination etc.) Excellent patient experience skills Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Patient Care Associate 1; Med-Surg; Nights

*** TO BE CONSIDERED Must have a CNA and Phlebotomy certificate OR Medical Assistant Certificate *** Shift: Nights Location: Jackson Memorial Hospital 1611 N.W 12th Ave, Miami, FL 33136 Miami, FL Full-Time SW 7 - Med Surg Summary Patient Care Associate provides patient focused, age-specific, information and clinical based support to patients through the utilization of appropriate health information equipment/systems. This is the level 3 job in the nursing support career ladder. Responsibilities Uses a systematic process to provide/modify care and patient/family education. Assists health care team with simple procedures; prepares supplies & equipment; provides patient/family support, assists in positioning patients, sets up/or remove equipment etc. Under direction, performs a variety of tasks associated with generalized patient care (vital signs, feeding, mobility, drainage, and personal hygiene: bath, dressing, bed making/linen changes etc.). Utilizes specialized equipment as needed when providing patient care. Prepares and cleans exam rooms, patient treatment areas and stretchers between patient uses. Transports patients to and from treatment areas when needed. Cleans assigned area after patient's treatment, as needed according to departmental procedures. Takes and picks up food orders for patient's kitchen evaluation. Assists in the fabrication of adaptive and assistive equipment, i.e. washing mitts, wheelchair gloves, safety belts, straps, etc. Keeps the storage closet in order and stocked. Assists with office duties as needed. Assists and provides support to the health care team including set-up, equipment prep, clean up and restocking and specimen labeling. Attentive to patient care needs that meets clinical goal for routine visits. Responsive in meeting patient flow processes that reduce patient waiting time for procedures. Adjusts work pace, as directed to meet volume demands of clinical unit. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to support delivery model of care as defined by ANM/NM. Schedules appointments for referrals/consults as assigned, minimizes distractions. Consistently adheres to time outs prior to start of surgical and invasive procedures per policy. Follows policies on identification of patients, hand hygiene/infection control and all other related unit specific policies and procedures, as detailed on the unit specific competency checklist. Performs phlebotomy function as assigned. Employees assigned to units performing phlebotomy function must have completed an accredited phlebotomy program. Performs all other related job duties as assigned. Experience Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience. Education Completion of an approved Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant training program is required. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the nursing area. Credentials Medical Assistant Certification OR Certified Nursing Assistant license, including Phlebotomy is required. Employees hired into PCA classification before 08/09/2020 are grandfathered in for the certification / license requirement. Incumbents performing phlebotomy function must have a proof of completion of an accredited phlebotomy program. American Heart Association and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers may be required at the unit level upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment. Unit Specific Credential AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) with 6 months validity Working Conditions Physical Requirements - Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.
