In this dynamic role, you’ll provide direct care to patients and support to families, while also serving as a floating clinician—temporarily assigned to different hospice branches based on census needs or staffing gaps. Travel is required and may include: Option 1: Overnight travel required to cities within a 100-mile radius. Option 2: Frequent overnight travel to multiple states is required. Option 3: Regional travel with overnight stays based on assignment needs. A company fleet car is provided for eligible employees. Reports all resident, visitor and work-related accidents/injuries and demonstrates appropriate follow through by investigating, documenting and processing incident reports. Accepts guidance, supervision, and criticism if needed. Practices in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory agencies regulations. Assures that a stock level of medications, medical supplies, equipment, etc. are maintained at adequate levels at all times. Responsibilities Primary: Ability to fulfill all responsibilities of the Patient Care Specialist position as detailed in the specific Patient Care Specialist job description. Arrange referrals to a specialist and obtaining pre-authorizations when directed by the Provider. Lab Duties Analysis of specimens Identifies and processes patient samples using appropriate laboratory protocol, inclusive of laboratory safety protocol. Performs analysis using appropriate procedures including reagent preparation and appropriate QC. Operates instruments and equipment accurately and efficiently using established protocol and QC checks. Completes analysis within established time deadlines. Evaluation of results Evaluates results obtained from patient and QC samples to assure validity before reporting values. Laboratory compliance Maintains files per individual laboratory protocol. Performs and documents corrective and preventive maintenance and instrument function checks and records per department policy and protocol, both routine and periodic. Recognizes and documents instrument malfunction and takes corrective action by performing repairs or notifying a supervisor.
