Organization: NICU Cohort 13 Job Summary: Job Description Summary: Join our team in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate care to our most vulnerable patients. Our NICU includes over 131 beds and supports more than 1,400 premature and/or critically ill newborns annually. Neonatal Services is organized into specialized pods, allowing for cohorting of patient diagnoses and delivery of highly expert, focused care. In this role, you will assist with medical procedures, monitor and interpret vital signs, operate specialized equipment, and support families through education and communication with empathy and understanding. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Unit Summary: The Cardiac and Complex Surgical Unit is a 44-bed specialty unit within the NICU that cares for critically ill and medically complex neonates. Patient populations include those with cardiac, neurological, renal, genetic conditions, prematurity, and other high-acuity diagnoses. This unit provides advanced therapies such as therapeutic hypothermia (cooling), dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Patients may require varying levels of respiratory support, ranging from room air to high-frequency ventilation. Care delivery is highly specialized, with most patient assignments structured as 1:1 or 2:1 to ensure optimal outcomes and individualized attention. Shift: 7pm-7am 36 hours a week Level III/IV NICU, Critical Care, or ER experience highly preferred. The NICU Registered Nurse applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes. Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards. . KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum. Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis. Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes. Create, document, and update individualized infusion care plans and maintain thorough, timely documentation in the EHR. Conduct initial patient evaluations for therapy appropriateness, including payer criteria and clinical suitability for infusion center setting. Maintain open, timely communication with medical directors, referring physicians, and interdisciplinary staff regarding care coordination. Identify urgent or emergent reactions during infusion, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate emergency transfers when necessary. Serve as a clinical leader within the infusion center team; provide guidance to infusion nurses and support staff on patient care and clinical protocols. Support patient education, counseling, and safe transition of care across healthcare settings. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and operational planning efforts across the infusion center. As an RN, you will play an important role in providing high-quality nursing care and supporting positive outcomes for our patients and residents. Position Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and established nursing standards. Assess patient and resident needs and monitor changes in condition. Administer medications and treatments as ordered. Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation. Communicate changes in condition to physicians, nursing leadership, and appropriate members of the care team. Supervise and support nursing assistants and other assigned nursing staff as appropriate. Assist with development and implementation of individualized plans of care. Maintain compliance with applicable regulations, NHC policies, and professional nursing standards. Promote a safe, respectful, and compassionate care environment. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee or a current multistate/compact license that permits practice in Tennessee. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Graduate Nurses (GNs) are encouraged to apply. Current CPR certification as required. Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills. Long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation experience is preferred but not required. Sign-On Bonus Eligible full-time hires may qualify for a $10,000 sign-on bonus .
