Job Description: Working within the Outpatient Specialty Center, the oncology and infusion nurse provides clinical support to physicians ensuring a highly efficient well trained team that supports optimal level of operations and patient satisfaction. He/She assesses, plans, coordinates and provides higher level patient care activities where critical care thinking skills are used to interpret complex information and guide patients to navigate in the hospital outpatient department setting. Through evidence-based practices and relevant patient care models, the medical oncology nursing culture will create a compassionate healing environment, ensure interdisciplinary collaboration and foster professional growth and satisfaction. The staff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, educating, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame utilizing the John Muir Medical Center Standards of Care, American Nurses Association's (ANA) Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides care through the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and the environment and technology, in partnership and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members. Job Description The Adult Infusion Centers at Mt. Zion, Parnassus and Mission Bay service the Medical Oncology and Hematology, Blood, and Cellular Transplant population at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as any non-oncology infusion needs of patients at UCSF. The treatments include but are not limited to chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration and electrolyte therapy, injections and blood draws, enzymes and iron infusions, and antibiotics. The centers collectively consist of over 130 chairs/beds and treatments include research and standard of care infusions. The infusion centers are staffed by Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, and Practice Coordinators. The position requires flexibility to work at all West Bay Outpatient Adult Infusion Centers. Weekend and evening shifts on a as needed basis. The adult infusion Clinical Nurse II delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult infusion outpatient population. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer and non cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements. The nurse is recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates investment in the overall forward movement of the unit and the organization Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Two (2) or more years of recent RN clinical Oncology Nursing experience. 2 years adult outpatient infusion and 6 months Peds Hematology/Oncology experience. Job Description The Adult Infusion Centers at Mt. Zion and Mission Bay service the Medical Oncology population at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center as well as any non-oncology infusion needs of patients at UCSF. The treatments include but are not limited to chemotherapy, biotherapy, immunotherapy, blood transfusions, hydration and electrolyte therapy, injections and blood draws, enzymes and iron infusions, and antibiotics. The centers collectively consist of over 100 chairs/beds and treatments include research and standard of care infusions. The infusion centers are staffed by Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants, and Practice Coordinators. The Outpatient Infusion Clinical Nurse II delivers direct patient care to an assigned adult infusion outpatient population. This nurse is experienced and highly skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer and non cancer disease process, the major treatment modalities, symptom management, supportive care, and patient education. The nurse utilizes an interdisciplinary approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National Patient Safety Goals set forth by regulatory requirements.
