General Summary: The Pediatric APRN or Physician Assistant, under the supervision of the Physician, who acts as the collaborative practitioner, is responsible for: Performs newborn admissions, consultations, follow-up care, and discharge planning. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests for newborn patients, including routine laboratory studies and imaging. Provides education and counseling to newborn family members regarding the patient's condition, treatment plan, and discharge instructions. Monitors the newborn's clinical progress, evaluates response to treatment, and coordinates referrals to physicians or specialists as clinically indicated. Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure consistent, high-quality newborn care and support. Knowledge and Skills Required: Enthusiastic team player with a collaborative approach to patient care. Demonstrates a genuine passion for caring for newborn patients and supporting their families. Consistently displays a compassionate, professional, and patient-centered demeanor. Successfully completes all pre-employment requirements, including a third-party background check and drug screening. Ordering and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests, such as routine laboratory, X-ray, etc. Treating patients with various conditions related to the full scope of the digestive system, liver functions and esophagus such as GI bleeds, atypical chest pain/GERD, dysphagia, acute hepatitis, gallstone disease, gastroparesis flares, Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis flares Monitoring the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed Collaborating with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff Displaying a caring and professional attitude at all time as well as maintaining personal and professional growth Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, patients, and the public.
