Performs administrative responsibilities as assigned. 2.1. Sends/receives patient medical records and abstracts new patient records into EPIC. 2.2. Obtains lab/radiology reports, hospital notes, and referral information as requested. 2.3. Completes forms/requisitions as needed. 2.4. Cross-trained on front desk duties, including but not limited to greeting patients/visitors, answering calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining/scanning patient medical records. 3. Performs environmental responsibilities as assigned. 3.1. Sets up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. 3.2. Applies principles of infection control. 3.3. Cleans exam/procedures rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control following established department policy. 3.4. Cleans the sterilizer (when applicable) according to the scheduled maintenance program and maintains appropriate documentation. 3.5. Orders, sorts, and stores supplies following established department policy. 4. Performs other related organizational duties as assigned. 4.1. Maintains patient autonomy, confidentiality, and dignity. 4.2. Ensures providers submit timely and accurate billing. 4.3. Maintains knowledge of practice policy, HIPAA, current coding, OSHA regulations and CLIA regulations (where applicable). 4.4. Performs job duties under supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. 4. Demonstrates a competent level of approved skilled nursing care tasks and procedures using approved technical skills related to vital signs, pulse oximetry, venipuncture, starting standard peripheral IVs only (not midlines or long peripheral lines), urinary catheter insertion/catheter care; and simple dressings, remove/discontinue a peripheral line. 5. Administer IV fluids, provided completion of annual competency IV therapy training. 6. Monitors patients receiving blood and blood products and TPN under the direction of the RN, who administers the transfusion. 7. Makes recommendations in the application of the nursing process. 8. Participates in planning, and administers direct patient care, including activities of daily living (ADL). 9. Performs point of care testing including blood glucose. 10. The training should include a written examination and competency demonstration. A Hemodialysis LPN may: • Administer bolus of medications by IV push in a chronic outpatient hemodialysis treatment center, excluding first dose administration which is administered by an RN. The RN will access and care for patient’s initial catheter use. Subsequently, and following the MSHS CVAD care policy, the LPN can: • Identify and set up supplies necessary for accessing a CVAD. • Initiate treatment with a CVAD. • Draw blood specimens from a CVAD. • Perform CVAD dressing change and exit site care. • Monitor and adjust flow rates of central venous catheter access device/line. • Intervene if there is a catheter/blood line disconnection or other complications associated with a CVAD. • Provide CVAD care at the end of dialysis treatment. The salary range for the role is $25.1095 - $33.8557 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
