The multidisciplinary team on 7Q is dedicated to delivering specialized care for these critically ill patients, using advanced monitoring techniques and individualized treatment plans. The orientation process for nurses joining 7Q includes comprehensive training to develop the specialized skills necessary for neurosurgical critical care. This includes EKG and ACLS training, as well as critical care classes, followed by a six-week competency-based orientation (CBO) preceptorship. Prior experience in neuro or critical care is preferred for those joining the 7Q ICU, and a minimum of one year of current medical/surgical or telemetry experience is recommended.
