Job Description Medical Center: Outpatient Surgery Center - Full-Time, Day Shift Job Summary: The Clinical Nurse C demonstrates competency in prescreening patients prior to procedures requiring general anesthesia or monitored anesthesia care. Facilitates coordination of care and communication among the healthcare team to achieve optimal surgical outcome. Works closely with the surgeon offices to retrieve pre-operative tests (EKGs, Labs, Chest X-ray) results, history and physical, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent information related to diagnosis, type of surgery and comorbidities. Identifies potential issues that could possibly result in a negative surgical outcome, delay or cancellation of surgery. Provides education about surgery and recovery process to the patient, family or caregiver prior to surgery as appropriate. Performs the nursing process (assessment, care planning, intervention, evaluation) independently and in accordance with LLUMC established Professional Practice Model (Duffy's Quality Caring Theory) to achieve proficient individualized physical, psychosocial and spiritual wellness. Functions within the expectations of an accomplished professional nurse and meets nursing excellence standards to maintain Magnet Recognition as outlined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Inspires and adopts the transformation of evidence into point-of-care practice to optimize patient outcomes. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required for external hires. Exception(s) may be granted as follows: 1) if currently enrolled in a nursing bridge program (AS degree to DNP degree), proof of 25% program completion required. DNP degree to be completed two and a half years post hire date. Exception to completion date may be granted for extenuating circumstances; 2) if employed in a LLUH entity with an Associate or Diploma Degree at time of application, AS or Diploma degree is acceptable. This includes patient care assessment, patient care planning and implementation, and working on patient care quality improvement. The CPD partners with the for review of clinical practice. As needed, serves as case manager to a group of wound care patients, to include specific assessments and direct patient care according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management. Performs hyperbaric related duties, as needed, upon completion of the Healogics Hyperbaric training. May perform hyperbaric safety director duties after completing the required Healogics hyperbaric safety director training Manages Relationships (15%) Maintains excellent relationship with hospital client and continuously seeks to understand needs, confirm goal alignment and demonstrate value proposition.Identifies the hospital strategic goals and objectives and manages the program to achieve those goals, while remaining compliant with all Healogics operations standards. Works effectively and seamlessly at all levels within the partner hospital.Participates in hospital department/management meetings and actively participates in Hospital communication activities. Builds and develops effective working relationships with wound care program providers, clinical and support staff.Encourages all program staff to provide excellent customer service to members of other hospital departments. Performs other duties as required. Required Education, Experience and Credentials: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to be maintained throughout the duration of employment in this position Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Nursing or related field preferred and 1 year of marketing/community education in the healthcare industry or clinical operations experience OR Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Nursing or related field preferred and 2 or more years of marketing/community education in the healthcare industry or clinical operations experience OR 4 years or more years of marketing/community education in the healthcare industry or clinical operations experience Management experience preferred Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated competency in BLS (Basic Life Support) Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, to include group presentation skills Strong analytical and quantitative skills Strong customer service and follow-up skills Strong organization, time management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Leadership and teaching skills Strong relationship building and influential skills Strong team building and motivational skills Ability to work with Healogics and hospital management.
