Seeks guidance from the Director and/or upper management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation from financial/operational policies and standards of practice. Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient and department records. Protects patients by carrying out infection-control policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration and storage procedures and controlled substance regulations. Participates in budget development process as directed. Participates in the department’s rotating management-on-call schedule, serving as the designated off-shift leadership representative to support operational oversight and escalation management. Leads, manages, coaches, and trains a team or department, provides guidance, support, and mentors to ensure optimal performance and productivity. Oversees the recruitment, hiring, team/department orientation, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions including up to termination processes for a team or department. Nurse Manager | Safe Harbor Recovery Center | Portsmouth, Virginia About the Job: PURPOSE STATEMENT: The Nurse Manager assists the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and supervising the effective and efficient operations of nursing in the delivery of behavioral health care to all clients. Responsible for the clinical management of the milieu, coordination of client care and staffing according to predetermined guidelines, monitoring and functioning within budget, supervision of staff, and maintenance of regulatory standards in a manner that ensures the deliverance of quality care in a safe and cost-effective manner. This position is onsite at the facility and is not a remote position. Roles and Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments, and administration to ensure that all clients’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve the issue. Monitors nursing practices and activities to assure quality client care. Communicates expectations of client care to staff. Manages the activities of staff, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines. Identifies and prioritizes issues of importance, including those priority issues as set for by leadership. Collaborates with department leaders and corporate leaders, as needed. Communicates instructions, expectations and timelines clearly and concisely. Monitors time schedules to determine adequate staff and skill levels. CPR certification and de-escalation training required (training available upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements. SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS: One or more years’ leadership or management experience required.
