Registered Nurse (RN)- NICU Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Registered Nurse (RN) - NICU $10,000 Sign-On Bonus Neonatal Critical Care Nurse The NICU RNCC is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the therapeutic environment, treatment and modalities, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Registered Nurse (RN) is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients and functions within the policies and procedures of the department, the hospital, and the legal framework of the State of Tennessee. NICU RN Roles and Responsibilities: Administer prescribed medications, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs. Provide respiratory, and ventilator management, and monitoring for patients. Serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems. Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of your healthcare team. Provide care for infants immediately after birth. Consult with parents/guardians on aftercare and long-term health management for infants. Required Skills & Qualifications: Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN Degree Program 2 years minimum of NICU experience Employee must have valid BLS upon hire. ACLS, NRP, CPI and STABLE required within 90 days of hire. Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee. Medicine Stepdown- Although our patient population serves adults, we are located on the 14th floor of Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt. The environment on our unit is friendly, focused on teamwork, and flexible to accommodate our patients’ needs. We care for adult patients 18 and older who are being treated for various medical diagnoses. These diagnoses cover a wide range of disease processes, including pulmonary, renal, hepatology, endocrine, and post-procedural patients. Some of our patient population requires knowledge of wound care, as well as care of patients on some continuous medication drips, including insulin. Shift This is a full-time day shift position. The shift if 7:00am - 7:00pm, three times per week for a total of 36 hours per week, including some weekends. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum. Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate. Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. What minimum requirements you’ll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing or current home state license for multi-state license recognition "Compact State" obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
