The primary purpose of the Clinical Nurse Outpatient is to provide individualized assistance to Medical Oncology patients, families, and caregivers in the coordination and communication of the patient's plan of care. The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. The 4 cohorts are: 9 LT: Surgical and Neuro-surgical ICU that encompasses post liver & kidney transplants, trauma patients, seizure disorder patients, and post-operative patients 10 LT: MICU focusing on pulmonary/pulmonary hypertension patients, bone marrow transplant/hematology/oncology patients 11 LT: MICU that encompasses a mix of medical-surgical patients. 12 LT: Transitional ICU is a unique cohort that focuses on our chronic, technology dependent patients who need intense education with the patient and family before discharging home.
