4NW is a 31 bed mixed acuity care unit that specializes in the care of orthopedic and neurological patients. Our Orthopedic patients include joint replacements, traumatic fractures and injuries to the extremities, and back pain. 4NW also cares for a variety of both medical and surgical neurological patients including stroke, movement disorders, traumatic brain/spinal injuries, and mixed neurosurgical patients. All nursing staff are NIHSS stroke certified and all caregivers receive specialized training to promote safe and early mobilization of post-surgical joint patients. We are very proud to represent two Centers of Excellence recognized by the Joint Commission. The Joint Replacement Center of Excellence for both Hip and Knee focuses on creating the best and safest patient experience for our joint replacement patients. The Stroke Center of Excellence focuses on the best care and treatment for our stroke patients. Hours: This 0.6 FTE commits to 24 hours of 8-hour (1900-0730) shifts. The unit cares for a variety of populations, including Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, GYN, Pediatrics, and transitional newborn care in our Special Care Nursery. We see approximately 900 patients annually. In additional to providing specialty services for women and children of all ages, the department also provides other services, such as, but not limited to, lactation and resolve through sharing (RTS) perinatal loss support. OMH Birthing Center has over 30 staff members working as Registered Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and Health Unit Clerks. ​ Hours: This .9 FTE commits to 36 hours per week, schedule is three 12 hour night shifts 1900-0700.
