Transfer Center Nurse Specialist

Job Summary: The Transfer Center Nurse Specialist will function out of the Throughput Operations Center providing critical and timely assessments and successfully guiding referring facilities to the appropriate physician. In an effort to provide complete customer satisfaction, the nurse should accurately listen and respond appropriately to requests made by transferring physicians, hospitals and peers. The Transfer Center Nurse Specialist should give high priority to customer service and complete customer satisfaction. The nurse must be able to adjust through a rapidly changing environment. The nurse will manage multiple phones lines and responsibilities including transfer center logistics for patients being transferred into both hospitals. This role will play a significant part in ensuring adequate acceptance of patients into our health system, and compliance with EMTALA regulations. Minimum Qualifications: NYS licensed/registered RN (or eligible), Bachelors degree in Nursing with one year hospital-based experience or Associates degree in Nursing with three years of hospital-based experience required. Job Summary: The RN Navigator is a Registered Nurse whose clinical nursing experience guides patients and their families to informed decision making. Assumes responsibilities and accountability for planning, guiding and evaluating the delivery of patient care. Monitors patient's progress throughout treatment. Intervenes as needed to ensure compliance and optimum care. Collaborates within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate timely, appropriate screening, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, treatment and supportive care across the health care continuum. The RN Navigator assumes responsibility for the coordination of all resources necessary to provide care. Utilizes advanced expertise to identify, implement and improve processes in order to provide an integrative model of care to the patients, while assuring the highest level of patient satisfaction. The RN Navigator provides patient education for each patient regarding their disease process and treatment throughout the health care continuum. Demonstrates and promotes professional development. Student Assistant - Surgical Technologist

Job Summary: The Student Surgical Technologist (SST) will work with hospital attendants to help with room turnovers, terminal cleaning, patient transport, running for blood. Shadow in Central Sterile to learn decontamination, scope processing, tray organization, wrapping, sterilization, proper care and handling of sterile items. Learn to pick cases with case picking. An SST will pair up with an experienced Surgical Tech and be in position to 2nd scrub. You may be utilized as a second scrub to hold hearts, retractors, cameras, etc. An SST will learn room setup, how to operate, set up OR patient tables, and equipment. Use experience from central sterile/case picking to check cases prior to opening. Under direct supervision from a surgical tech and RN circulator the SST will open sterile CDS packs, sterile instrument trays, peel pack items. SST will Perform surgical scrub, gown and glove. Students are limited to a maximum 29 hours per week. Minimum Qualifications: Current Surgical Technology student in an accredited program, All prerequisites must be completed. Electrophysiology Lab Registered Nurse

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse will administer medication to perform moderate sedation; participate in diagnostic and treatment procedures in SUNY Upstate Electrophysiology Lab. Responsibilities in this role will include but not limited to: Documenting activities of patient care and testing. Assist physicians in testing and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias in the Electrophysiology lab. Communicate results of testing to cardiologist/electrophysiologist, nursing and case managers. Continuing education research and patient teaching. RN will also participate in patient care and unit activities of HVC departments of Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab and ECHO Lab. Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in Nursing or equivalent, NYS RN licensure (or eligible) with a minimum of 2 years of Cardiac Care nursing experience (preferably in an ICU/critical care setting). Certification in CPR/BLS required at time of appointment. Must be able to handle physical aspects of patient care such as moving patients and equipment as well as participate in rotating on-call schedule.
