Overview The obstetric unit in Women’s & Infants’ Services is comprised of 16 LDRP (labor/delivery/recovery/postpartum) rooms and an additional 8 post-partum or general care rooms. We provide Level II Maternal Specialty care and deliver approximately 1,750 babies each year under the care of our OB/GYN physician teams from three local clinics. Our Women’s & Infants’ team is supported by a full-time W&I Licensed Social Worker, Inpatient and Outpatient Lactation Support Services and a Women’s Center Outreach team. The Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) will assume responsibility and accountability for care of the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum obstetrical patients and their well newborn infants. The L&D RN also performs screening and outpatient care for OB Triage patients along with care to women during their post-partum recovery following vaginal or cesarean delivery. The L&D RN is cross-trained to Mother/Baby care. RN- Short Stay Outpatient Unit

Overview The Short Stay Outpatient Unit (SSOU) is a fast paced environment where multidisciplinary services are provided for patients needing a vast variety of treatments. This unit’s normal hours of operation are Monday – Friday day shift, but coverage is also provided on weekend day shifts on an as needed basis. Treatments are provided to patients with a variety of needs and who are sent by physicians from numerous disciplines including but not limited to Primary Care, Hematology, Oncology, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, and Obstetrics. The SSOU Registered Nurse (RN) will provide treatments to include but not limited to the administration of chemotherapies and biotherapies, blood products, ESAs, IV antibiotics, iron, and hydration. The SSOU RN routinely performs therapeutic phlebotomies, CVL care, and wound dressing changes. SSOU RNs are highly autonomous and work in a team nursing environment. All RNs are expected to become chemotherapy certified within a year of employment and to consider national certification if not already certified. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Critical Care Unit (CCU) will assume responsibility and accountability for the adult and geriatric patients undergoing continuous monitoring for cardiac, post-surgical, respiratory, and/or psychiatric diagnoses. The CCU RN will often be active participants in bedside procedures with physicians. He/She will be responsible for certain specialty equipment and procedures such as managing arterial lines, ventilators, hypothermia protocol, and performing peritoneal dialysis. RN- Emergency Department

Overview The Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN) will work with a team of physicians, other nurses, patient care techs, and other professionals from various departments of the hospital such as Laboratory, Radiology, and Respiratory Therapy. CRHS ED is a certified Level III Trauma Center, AR SAVES spoke site and receiving site, and a designated Arkansas Stroke Ready Hospital (ArSRH). The ED RN is part of a team that provides care for traumatically injured patients, and critically ill patients suffering from life threatening conditions such as Heart Attack or Stroke. The ED RN works alongside the team with the common goal of providing compassionate, quality care to a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics within a fast paced environment. The ED RN will assess and monitor a wide array of health conditions and injuries, administer medications, and perform procedures such as moderate sedation, intraosseous and intravascular therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The ED RN must have a mind that is always assessing and triaging patient complaints and conditions with efficiency and accuracy. The ED RN must be skilled in maintaining proper lines of communication with the health care team, patients, and families. The ED RN will routinely evaluate episodic and acute responses to broad classifications of physical and psychosocial conditions, as well as manage the planning and implementation of interventions. Overview 4 North is a 16 bed-unit in which the Register Nurse (RN) facilitates expert multidisciplinary care to a variety of medical/surgical adult and geriatric patients. There is a strong emphasis on provision of care to patients requiring hospitalization before and/or after general surgery. The RN also cares for the Ear, Nose and Throat surgical patients along with peritoneal dialysis patients and patients with other medical problems covering a wide range of diagnoses. The RN will utilize the nursing process in the provision of care and will practice within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Arkansas and the policies, procedures and standards of the Health System. Overview 3 South is an 18 bed-unit in which the Registered Nurse (RN) provides care for patients admitted for general cardiac diagnoses as well as sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke. The RN also cares for patients requiring antiarrhythmic non-titrated drips. The patient population served tends to have multiple diagnoses requiring the RN to work closely with all of our Cardiologists as well as our Hospitalists to provide comprehensive care. Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) will assume responsibility and accountability for the care of adult and geriatric patient who undergo gastroenterology procedures. Moderate sedation and anesthesia are utilized. The RN is responsible for following and assessing the patient through the entire process including pre-operation, intra-operation and post-operation.
