Assures appropriate utilization of staff on unit by preparing staff schedules, overseeing staffing for shift and making patient assignments to meet patient needs in an efficient and cost effective manner. Regularly attends hospital wide bed meetings. Assists with hiring, onboarding, orientating, precepting, coaching and evaluating staff. Evaluates care given by staff. Coaches to improve care. Establishes effective work relationships with staff and supports action plans in meeting staff satisfaction goals. Understands, articulates, supports and serves as a resource for the components of the nursing bundle. Including observation and coaching of staff. Maintains professional, effective and timely communication with physicians, other departments, (fast track) patients and families, staff, EMS partners and community members. The Wound CNC is a “clinical expert” in evidence-based nursing practice as related to treatment and management of wounds. With responsibility for monitoring and sustaining excellence in the provision of nursing care through the support and development of clinical standards of practice, implementation of education, and establishing competency for staff members, the Wound CNC will demonstrate a firm knowledge base and clinical expertise, function as a clinical resource, conduct and facilitate patient care consultation, and assess the impact of appropriate practice on patient outcomes. The Wound CNC will work closely and collaboratively with all disciplines to establish and provide collegial relationships that benefit our staff, patients and the community.
