Required EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Education Graduate of accredited nursing program. Experience 2 years of RN experience with one (1) year experience with adult IV expertise required. Licenses and Certifications (RN) REGISTERED NURSE by Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or BNE Compact State). and (DRIVERS) DRIVERS LICENSE Valid Texas driver's license, proof of driver's insurance. and (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT accredited course by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Preferred Education Bachelor's Degree - BSN Experience Other RN experience including high tech and home health expertise preferred. Prefer knowledge of InterQual and TMF care criteria. Job Duties Provides direct nursing care, including patient observation and delivery of prescribed treatments. Conducts initial and ongoing comprehensive assessments of home health patient needs, including OASIS assessments at appropriate time points. Evaluates outcomes of patient care and identifies discharge planning needs. Consults with other disciplines as required. Adjusts nursing care processes as necessary. Maintains patient records and charts to ensure accurate record of treatment, including med profile, care plan, communication notes, etc. Provides instructions to patients/families for use of products and services utilizing nursing process to address learning needs. Prepares, administers, monitors, and discontinues IV fluids. Accesses IV delivery system (ie. peripheral IV start, implant cath, broviac, etc.). Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician. Performs phlebotomy, laboratory specimen collection and point of care testing. Responsible for overall delivery of quality patient care that meets or exceeds established standards and provides assistance in activities to meet state and/or federal regulatory guidelines. Maintains safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established standards. Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Program. Provides supervisory visits for Home Health Aides and LVNs as required by state and federal regulations. Responsible for participating in on-call rotation and emergency call according to agency policy. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Summary UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join the Cardiac Surgery team in a dedicated nocturnal inpatient role. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will serve as a key clinical provider caring for high-acuity cardiac surgery patients throughout the continuum of hospitalization. Working collaboratively with cardiac surgeons, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams, the APP will provide comprehensive inpatient management including consultations, admissions, discharges, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, developing treatment plans, coordinating care, and providing patient and family education. The APP will follow patients before and after cardiac surgical procedures, manage complex clinical issues, interpret laboratory results, chest X-rays, and EKGs, facilitate specialty consultations, and perform independent clinical decision-making in a fast-paced environment. This role offers a high degree of autonomy and is ideal for providers who are detail-oriented, adaptable, and thrive in a collaborative, patient-centered setting. Veterans encouraged to apply.
