Job Summary The Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC), a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center affiliated with UT Southwestern Medical Center, is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Simmons Acute Care (SAC) and Infusion team. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will function in Simmons Acute Care (SAC) clinic providing outpatient care for established SCCC oncology patients with acute medical issues requiring additional evaluation and management. The scope of SAC is to focus on acute medical problems related to cancer and/or cancer treatment. SAC provides healthcare services to patients who are receiving treatment for cancer or have completed treatment. This position will also collaborate with Dallas Infusion Center to manage infusion reactions, address lab abnormalities, provide anti-neoplastic patient education as well as transfer patients with acute issues to the acute care as needed. Scheduled Hours: 10-hour or 12-hour shifts Ideal candidates will have prior experience in oncology. The APP will practice primarily with the inpatient Advanced Heart Failure Service but will be cross-trained to function across the entire inpatient cardiology service line. Nocturnal cross coverage will include the advanced heart failure/MCS/heart transplant and general cardiology services. 13-hour shifts with weekend/holiday coverage are required and will be divided among the APP teams. The APP will primarily manage patients with advanced heart failure, some of whom are recovering from heart transplant or durable left ventricular assist device (LVAD) surgery or have been re-admitted with complications of these therapies.
