This role supervises nursing staff, coordinates resident care plans, and supports a culture of safety, compassion, and continuous quality improvement. Key Responsibilities: Lead, coach, and evaluate RNs, LPNs, and CNAs assigned to the unit; oversee daily staffing and scheduling. Provide leadership during surveys, audits, and inspections; ensure CMS and DPH readiness. Promote teamwork, respect, and resident-centered care within the unit. Assess residents’ health, review physician orders, and monitor nursing interventions. Coordinate interdisciplinary care plans and ensure timely documentation in the EMR (e.g., PCC). Oversee infection control practices and adherence to standard precautions. Implement QAPI initiatives and monitor key quality indicators (falls, pressure injuries, infection rates). Ensure accurate completion of MDS assessments and care plan meetings in collaboration with MDS coordinator. Provide in-service training, competency checks, and mentoring to nursing staff. Serve as primary contact for families, physicians, and ancillary providers regarding resident care. Participate in daily management meetings and contribute to emergency preparedness planning. Qualifications: Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Minimum 2–3 years clinical experience in long-term care or subacute rehabilitation; prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred. Familiarity with CMS regulations, MDS process, and DPH survey standards. Strong leadership, delegation, and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records. Physical & Working Conditions: Ability to stand, walk, and move intermittently during shifts. Position Summary The Staff Development Coordinator plans, implements, and evaluates all education, orientation, and competency programs for nursing and support staff. This role fosters a culture of continuous learning, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports high-quality resident care. Key Responsibilities Education & Training Design, schedule, and deliver orientation programs for new hires, including nursing and ancillary staff, to ensure a seamless onboarding process. Develop and present mandatory in-services (OSHA, infection control, resident rights, HIPAA, emergency preparedness, etc.). Organize annual skills fairs and ensure that all clinical staff complete the required competencies. Maintain an annual education calendar and learning management system (if applicable). Collaborate with the Infection Preventionist on CDC/CMS-aligned education.
