Position Summary The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care and maintaining compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and professional nursing standards. The ADON assists with the day-to-day operation of the Nursing Department, provides leadership and support to nursing staff, and helps ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and appropriate care. The ADON serves as a clinical and administrative resource to nursing staff and assumes nursing leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services. Supervise nursing staff and provide guidance, coaching, and performance management. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, policies, and procedures. Monitor resident care outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives. Participate in survey preparedness and assist with plans of correction. Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, and clinical coverage as needed. Investigate and follow up on incidents, accidents, and resident concerns. Support infection prevention, medication management, and risk management programs. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care plan processes. Assist with orientation, training, and competency evaluation of nursing staff. Promote resident rights, safety, and quality of life. Serve as acting Director of Nursing in the DON's absence. Qualifications Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing. Minimum of 2 years of nursing supervisory experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing. Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, state regulations, and long-term care operations. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience with electronic medical records and healthcare software preferred.
