Summary GENERAL SUMMARY The CHKD RN - Internal Traveler Program (RN-ITP) provides short-term 13-week assignments for eligible candidates to fill staffing needs. RNs will be eligible for up to 3 renewable 13-week assignments into critical specialty groups across the CHKDHS. The initial critical specialty groups are the Emergency Room, NICU, PACU, HEM/ONC, Perioperative Services, Medical/Surgical, etc. Plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice. Internal Traveler - NNP / NPA

Summary Under the direction of the Division of Neonatology, the Neonatal Physician Assistant (NPA) & Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) provides medical management of neonatal patients with a variety of diagnoses in the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or other locations at CHKD or in contracted facilities where NICU and/or general nursery patients are cared for. Reports to department leadership. GENERAL SUMMARY The CHKD NNP / NPA - Internal Traveler Program provides short-term 13-week assignments for eligible candidates to fill staffing needs. NNP / NPAs will be eligible for up to 3 renewable 13-week assignments across the CHKDHS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient, family and staff education. Performs a complete history and physical on new admissions and daily examinations and documents findings in medical record. Generates problem lists and differential diagnoses based on clinical findings. Creates a comprehensive treatment plan including laboratory, diagnostic testing and medications as indicated. Effectively utilizes healthcare resources and communicates with other members of the healthcare team to provide family support, and discharge planning. Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS Required Licenses and/or Certifications Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP): Registered Nursing License in the State of Virginia or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license required at time of hire. Neonatal Physician Assistant (NPA): Current state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia required at time of hire.
