Overview POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a first assistant for surgical procedures. They are responsible for the care of the patient under the direction of the surgeon. They collaborate with the surgeon and surgical team to create effective patient care plans for our surgical patients. While in the role of RNFA, the RNFA does not function concurrently as the scrub nurse. The RNFA provides leadership by working cooperatively with all of the medical center staff and works to maintain standards of professional nursing practice. This position reports to the OR clinical manager. The RN First Assistant (RNFA) practices in accordance with applicable regulatory standards, organizational policy, and performs all duties within the scope of RN licensure and education. This team member will work solely in our busy cardiovascular intensive care unit.
