Learn About a Day In the Life of a Surgical Tech: Responsibilities Assist with the nursing care of patients preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively by performing routine and delegated duties according to the standards of the department and hospital practice and policies. Prepares sterile field, including sponge, needle, and instrument counts when needed. Ensures the sterility of supplies and instrumentations used during operative procedures. 4.
