Job Summary:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices and regulations

• Prepare and review medical records and nurse's notes, assessing residents to observe and evaluate their physical and emotional status

• Monitor resident activity, evaluate nursing care in accordance with professional standards, and provide nursing care according to physician's orders, care plans, established standards, and facility policies

• Communicate with residents, family members, other interdisciplinary team members, and management regarding resident status

• Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician; sign, date, and perform all charting and record keeping in accordance with established policies and procedures

• Lead and monitor licensed and other professionals, providing feedback and coaching as needed

• Assist and participate in developing and implementing a written care plan for individual residents

• Participate in in-service training, assist in implementing orientation programs and job skills training, and maintain professional competence

Other Job Functions:

• Monitor environment and care practices of nursing personnel to ensure compliance with established safety, fire, and disaster procedures, infection control, and facility policies

• Participate in staff development and training programs

• Ensure cleanliness and safety of work and treatment areas

Qualifications:

• Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State

• Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred

• Must be CPR Certified

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to convey, explain, or interpret complex specialized information related to long-term care rules and regulations

• Ability to build and maintain relationships, coordinate plans, distribute information, and develop a mutual knowledge base for effective implementation of state and federal rules and regulations
