Job Summary:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with standards of nursing practices and regulations
Prepare and review medical records and nurse's notes, assessing residents to observe and evaluate their physical and emotional status
Monitor resident activity, evaluate nursing care in accordance with professional standards, and provide nursing care according to physician's orders, care plans, established standards, and facility policies
Communicate with residents, family members, other interdisciplinary team members, and management regarding resident status
Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician; sign, date, and perform all charting and record keeping in accordance with established policies and procedures
Lead and monitor licensed and other professionals, providing feedback and coaching as needed
Assist and participate in developing and implementing a written care plan for individual residents
Participate in in-service training, assist in implementing orientation programs and job skills training, and maintain professional competence
Other Job Functions:
Monitor environment and care practices of nursing personnel to ensure compliance with established safety, fire, and disaster procedures, infection control, and facility policies
Participate in staff development and training programs
Ensure cleanliness and safety of work and treatment areas
Qualifications:
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in good standing and currently licensed by the State
Experience as a Charge Nurse or supervisory experience preferred
Must be CPR Certified
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to convey, explain, or interpret complex specialized information related to long-term care rules and regulations
Ability to build and maintain relationships, coordinate plans, distribute information, and develop a mutual knowledge base for effective implementation of state and federal rules and regulations
