Position Summary
The Surgical Services Manager (RN) is responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and management of the Surgical Services Department, including the Operating Room, Pre-Op, PACU, and Sterile Processing (if applicable). This role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards. The Manager provides clinical and operational leadership, supports staff development, and promotes a culture of safety, efficiency, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida (required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees daily operations of Surgical Services, including OR, Pre-Op, PACU, and Central Sterile
- Ensures safe, efficient patient flow and high-quality clinical outcomes
- Develops and manages staff schedules, staffing plans, and productivity
- Provides leadership, coaching, and performance management to staff
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies (AHCA, CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA)
- Monitors and improves patient safety, infection control, and quality metrics
- Collaborates with physicians, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership
- Manages department budget, supplies, and equipment
- Leads process improvement initiatives and implements best practices
- Participates in on-call rotation as needed
Leadership Responsibilities
- Fosters a positive work environment and strong team culture
- Conducts regular staff meetings, evaluations, and competency assessments
- Supports recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff
- Serves as a liaison between staff and senior leadership
- Promotes accountability, professionalism, and excellent patient care
Work Environment
- Fast-paced hospital surgical setting
- Exposure to patient care environments, including operating rooms and sterile areas
- Requires adherence to infection control and safety protocols
Schedule Requirements
- Full-time position
- Primarily Monday–Friday, with flexibility based on department needs
- Required participation in call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
- Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations
