Key Qualifications:

  • Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or higher degree in Nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse license issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing
  • Valid Professional School Nurse License from the State of New Mexico
  • Experience in school nursing, pediatric care, or health advocacy preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with professionalism

Responsibilities:

  • Provide responsible and complex nursing care in accordance with school health policies and procedures
  • Deliver health services using the full nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
  • Act as an advocate for student health needs and rights, considering social, physical, and psychological factors affecting student learning
  • Support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the district’s school health program, aligning with New Mexico state regulations
  • Facilitate effective communication among students, families, school staff, medical professionals, and community resources
  • Handle confidential and potentially sensitive information with discretion and integrity

Able to adequately assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, and educate the patient and family regarding pain management. Able to monitor hemodynamic status of patient and correctly interpret the results. Demonstrate knowledge of cardiac monitoring to identify dysrhythmias. Able to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory's and according to patient care unit's policies and procedures. Able to interpret the results of waived tests and take appropriate action on waived test results. Maintain current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and his/her clinical condition.
