Scrub Tech Vascular Cath Lab

Cath Lab clinical staff (CTV, RCIS, RN, RT, ART, P-EMT)

 

General summary:

The Clinical staff can perform a wide range of technical skills, which are utilized during a variety of cardiovascular procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable and safe examination for all patients.

The staff members need to proficient in all aspects of angiography, preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with the policies and procedures. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

 

Knowledge and skills required:

·         BLS upon hire or within 40 days.

·         ACLS within 90 days of hire. Must maintain ACLS certification.

·         Able to prepare and recover a patient before and after procedure. (recovery staff only)

·         Maintain all aspects of QA and documentation of drug counts.

·         Able to operate all equipment in the cath lab. (cath lab staff only)

·         Able to set up and calculate various medications with different routes of administration. ( both cath lab and recovery staff)

·         Able to perform all aspects of recording, scrubbing and monitoring unless otherwise designated. ( cath lab staff only)

Education and experience required:

Must be graduate of school of Radiological technology, Cardiopulmonary / respiratory technology, registered nurse or P-EMT program, surgical technician certificate.

 

Licensure, certification or registration required:

              Current license or registration by the state of Florida as RN, Radiation tech, respiratory tech, P-EMT; or RCIS (registered cardiovascular invasive specialist) by cardiovascular credentialing international. New graduate CVT’s must obtain registration within 12 months of graduation.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

·         Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedure assessments in accordance with our policy. Annually meets all department specific competencies.

·         Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates awareness of hazards which may endanger patients. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and enforces safety regulations.

·         Performs treatments and administers medication according to policy and procedure. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications.

·         Verifies orders and facilitates implementation, communicating with physicians as needed. Identifies and prepares patient using aspect technique as dictated by procedure ordered.

·         Demonstrates accurate documentation and monitoring of activities as needed. Participates in the budgeting processes to ensure a cost effective, quality focused environment. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by cath lab directors.

·         Exhibits desire to learn and upgrade skills. Supervises other health care team members in the clinical setting. Utilizes knowledge base to assist with orientation, training and education of new personnel.

·         Able to function effectively in all THE FOLLOWING ROLES: circulator, monitor and scrub as well as other roles required by the department (procedural support and recovery area, ect.) Facilitates timely patient throughout.

·         Performs other duties as assigned or directed to ensure the smooth operation of the lab.
