School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Blue Springs, Missouri

Immediate contract opportunities are available for two dedicated nurseseither RNs or LPNsto provide crucial 1:1 support in a school setting. The roles focus on working closely with students who have complex health needs within a special education environment. Qualifications:

  • Current, unrestricted MO nursing license (must be clear on Nursys)
  • Minimum of one recent year of pediatric experience, preferably in ICU, ER, or school settings
  • Proficiency with electronic charting and multitasking
  • Comfort and flexibility working across various age groups and assignments within a school district
  • Willingness to meet students at home and accompany them on school transportation
  • Strong collaborative skills and adaptability
  • No new graduates, experienced professionals only

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a 1:1 nurse for individual students with specialized healthcare needs:
    • One role with a 4th grader (g-tube, seizure disorder, wheelchair);
    • Another with a PreK student (trach care)
  • Support classroom and other students as needed in special education environments
  • Act as a clinic nurse district-wide when primary student is not in attendance, including possible field trip assignments or support at other schools
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using computerized systems
  • Follow Monday-Thursday bell schedules (see below for hours)
    • Now through end of May: 35-40 hours/week, 8:15 am-4:45 pm
    • June 125 (ESY): 25 hours/week, 8:45 am2:45 pm
