Part-Time | Full School Year Contract | Support Student Health & Success

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable School Nurse (Certified School Nurse or Registered Nurse) to support the health and safety of students in a school setting in Calumet City. Position Details

  • Job Type: Part-Time, Full School Year
  • Caseload: Elementary School  
  • Location: Calumet City, IL
  • Schedule: 2 days per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30-4:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, medication administration, and health monitoring
  • Manage and implement student health plans, including IEPs, 504 Plans, and Individual Health Plans (IHPs)
  • Monitor and support students with chronic health conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies)
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate care
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student health and attendance
  • Promote health education and preventative care practices within the school community
  • Ensure compliance with district policies and state nursing standards

Qualifications

  • Certified School Nurse (CSN-PEL) or active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Bachelors degree in Nursing 
  • Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
