Full job description
The Qualifications:
- Previous ADON experience preferred OR 2 years' unit manager/supervisory experience
- Possess a current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania., bachelor's degree preferred
- Is knowledgeable of the needs of the aging and chronically ill requiring long term care
- Possesses the ability to effectively communicate with personnel, resident, family members, visitors, government agency personnel, and the general public
- Has patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition
- Possesses strong leadership, communication, and observational skills and the ability to manage high stress situations
The Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, staffing and directing the day-to-day functions of the Nursing Service Department
- Resolve personnel issues and keep employees informed of current changes that affect the quality patient care provided
- Develop work assignments and schedules, and assist nursing supervisory staff
- Delegate the administrative tasks of the nursing teams assigned duties
- Supervise all admissions for eligibility/denial of Medicare skilled services
- Notify all providers of resident status of eligibility for skilled services and changes
- Ensure that written physician orders for skilled services per Medicare guidelines are obtained and coordinate therapeutic services for residents
- Make daily rounds of the nursing department to ensure that all work assignments and resident care needs are met
- Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules and report medication errors
- Provide direct nursing care as necessary
